On 10 February 2017, commemoration was held at the United Nations African Economic Committee on behalf of the Embassy of Israel, Poland, Germany, Italy, Russia and Hungary on the Holocaust Memorial Day.

Ambassador Gábor Sági in his speech emphasized the Hungarian aspects of the Holocaust. He spoke in detail the progress of the Hungarian Presidency of the International Holocaust Memorial Society (IHRA). As for the African audience whose personal connection to the Holocaust was negligible, he presented the activity of the Budapest Center for Mass Murder Prevention.

In the commemoration nearly 200 members of the diplomatic corps, local representatives of international organizations, Ethiopian government officials and students from the German School in Addis Ababa participated. Before and after the event participants could attend an exhibition organised by the Embassy of Israel.
