The Hungarian Embassy organized an event on 16 of November, 2018., under the title „Remembering Woldemeskel Kostre, the Father of Ethiopian Athletics”. Woldemeskel studied and obtained his diploma in Budapest, Hungary, and later he also completed his PhD studies there. The outstanding sportsman and trainer, who died two years ago, was remembered by his trainee, Haile Gebreselassie, Olympic and World Champion in long-distance running and the General Secretary of the Ethiopian Olympic Committee, among others. Ambassador Gábor Sági handed over the posthumous award of the Hungarian Olympic Committee to the son of Woldemeskel Kostre. The event gave an opportunity to present the high level of the training system of different sports in Hungary.
