I am particularly honoured to serve as Ambassador of Hungary and to represent my country here in Ethiopia, in a country rich in resources of all kinds, most importantly with wonderful people.
Hungary has had excellent relations with Ethiopia for more than 60 years, our relations are laid on a solid foundation of partnership. This diverse and multifaceted relationship includes economic, political, educational and cultural relations. The reopening of our Embassy in Addis Ababa in 2016 has resulted in intensification of our bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of education and I am confident that in the coming years we will witness further strengthening of our bilateral relations.
Through the Hungarian Government’s Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme, every year 50 students from Ethiopia can begin their studies in Hungary. The programme is based on bilateral educational cooperation agreements signed between the Hungarian and Ethiopian Ministries responsible for education.
With its dynamic team, the Hungarian Embassy contributes to Ethiopia’s economic growth and development objectives, while also providing quality services to Hungarian and Ethiopian citizens and businesses. We continue enhancing the relationship with not only the Federal Government of Ethiopia, but also with international organizations as well as with the alumni association of former Ethiopian scholarship students having studied in Hungary.
Our Economic and Trade attaché is expanding business relationships and proactively supporting further export and investments of Hungarian enterprises to Ethiopia thus successfully contributing to the visibility of Hungary in Ethiopia.
Our consular section responds effectively to the requests of Hungarians residing in Ethiopia. I take this opportunity to invite all Hungarian citizens who visit, live or work in Ethiopia to take a few minutes to register through the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade web page, or by visiting the Hungarian Embassy in Addis Ababa. Finally, the foreign policy and diplomacy team is helping to strengthen the already very good relations between our governments.
